45th Anniversary Event Highlights

Expired Events

Our 45th Anniversary event on 7/22/19 was a huge success with many long-time members, and a great representation of newer members all there to take part in the celebration.  The venue was the Los Verdes Golf Course giving us a beautiful backdrop of the golf course and Pacific Ocean in the distance.  The day began with drinks and appetizers with attendees visiting out on the terrace on the sunny day, and then everyone enjoyed a plated 3-course lunch.

Our own, Chapter Trustee and Core Team Volunteer, Barbara Cooke, served as Master of Ceremonies, and helped keep the day running smoothly.  Our special program began with an overview of the chapter 45-year history presented by Hiro Hirashiki and Diane Gloor, who highlighted the key milestones around the evolution of a wide-ranging offerings of programs, meetings, and professional development resources.

PMI Guest Speaker: Caterina La Tona

Our program continued with our very special guest, Caterina La Tona, PMI Immediate Past Chair, PMI Board of Directors, who honored the long history of the chapter and our special relationship with PMI, due to Los Angeles being one of the 1st chapters formed.  Caterina presented a very insightful message about the Future of Project Management.  The key factor is PM’s need to be adaptable to the ever-changing technology landscape and the ability to help their company incorporate these changes.  PM’s need to continuously learn and transform their skills to become invaluable.   To learn more about this and see how PMI is supporting this need, click here.

PMI 50th Celebration to Service

Aligned with PMI’s 50,000 (now 100,000) Commitment of Service Hours, VP of Marketing & Outreach, Deby Covey challenged chapter members to reach a combined goal of 4,500 hours for 2019.  Please reach out to VPMarketing@pmi-la.org if you have hours with your favorite Sustainable project that you wish to report, or  if you are interested in coordinating a chapter wide event.  Our 45th Anniversary program ended with Chapter members, Ida Harding and Meeta Lulla, sharing their experiences and heartfelt involvement with the Wells Bring Hope and Mind Matter non-profit organizations showing us the importance of giving back and service to others.  To learn more about PMI’s 50th Anniversary Celebration to Service, click here.

We would like to thank our valued sponsors, Enterprise Level: IIL, HyperVelocity, Platinum Edge, Business Level: T2 Tech Group, Value Integrators, Facilitated Methods, for their support of our Anniversary event.  Our sponsors had tables to display their company materials and to be able to interact one on one with party goers.

The great music by DJ Tony provided great energy and happiness throughout the special day.  We invite all chapter members to continue using these special hashtags, #IamPMILA   #PMILA45, when posting about PMI-LA and this event.
