5G, Wi-Fi 6, and Trends in Advanced Wireless Connectivity

Networking executives view advanced wireless technologies such as 5G and Wi-Fi 6 as a force multiplier for other innovative technologies — including AI, IoT, cloud, and edge computing — and as being foundational to transforming their enterprises and industries. This is a key finding of a recent study conducted by Deloitte on advanced wireless connectivity.

Advanced wireless technologies promise dramatic performance improvements — such as faster speeds, increased data capacity, lower latency, greater device density, and precise location sensing. 5G and Wi-Fi 6 are not merely incremental improvements; they are disruptive technologies accelerating digital transformation.

5G (5th generation wireless) is driving data-powered innovation and automation at large scale. It will enable next-generation virtualization (transform the user experience), spur more subscription-based services, and will foster intelligent edge solutions to meet the needs of next- generation applications using AI and “super apps”.

Wi-Fi 6, the "indoor version of 5G", is the next-generation indoor wireless technology, and has been heralded as being more important for the future of mobile communications than 5G. Wi-Fi 6 will be faster and much more efficient, capable of powering a growing number of devices simultaneously — eliminating slowdowns in home networks. The ability to handle so many devices will also be useful in places such as large concert venues.

The evening will begin with presentations, including an introduction to 5G and Wi-Fi 6 by Rick Peterson, then transition into a lively panel discussion. You'll have an opportunity to post questions for Q&A at the end.

Join us for insights on these technologies which are forming a foundation for the transformation of your business landscape.
