Lee Mandley Volunteer of the Month: October 2020

Volunteer of the Month

Steven Dien

As a volunteer in Academic Outreach, I expected some feedback for what interests students against the standard PMI offerings. Steven provides feedback - and then offers ways to make our offerings BETTER.

Steven has taken the lead in helping to organize activities and events for Students since April . He is the "wizard behind the Zoom screen" and we have held 3 successful meetings for the DTLA/Academic Outreach Group with a 4th one planned! His ideas are new and unique, with a lot of audience participation. In addition, he often rolls up his sleeves and does the bulk of the video management side of things to ensure a smooth session. He not only helps the chapter out with Academic Outreach ideas, but he has also shared his knowledge of Zoom with other groups and become an Officer in our Pasadena Projectmasters Toastmasters Club!

Great job and congratulations,  Steven!

About the Lee Mandley Volunteer of the Month Award:

Founding Director of the PMI-LA Alhambra Community Meeting located at DeVry, Lee was a Construction PM and a long-time member of the chapter.  He was the voice and liaison for the San Gabriel Valley members east of Pasadena.  Lee was the first director to institute round table discussions on interesting Project Management Topics when a speaker had to cancel at the last moment.   Since 2012, we have presented the ‘Volunteer of the Month’ award to a key volunteer who exhibits the outstanding trait of working “outside-the-box” to ensure that chapter operations are running smoothly in their area.  This award was renamed later that year to honor Lee Mandley.
