MULTI-CHAPTER MEETING | Agile Concepts for Management and Leadership Success

Leadership = Power Skills

Agile principles and practices are dominating the discussion in software development. Having gone mainstream, software practitioners in most every vertical are utilizing some or all what Agile offers. So, it is only a matter of time before other professional disciplines look to see how to incorporate Agile for professional and organizational success.

Radical Management is one such incorporation. Started by Steve Denning and chronicled in his book, "The Leader’s Guide to Radical Management," Radical Management uses the foundational values of Agile and develops specific principles and practices for managers and leaders.

In this one-hour presentation, you will initially look at the foundational values of Agile and discuss how and why those values can be interpreted and utilized for managers and leaders inside and outside software development. From there you will get a dive into the specifics of Radical Management, the fundamental rational for it, the defining principals and how those principals are acted upon. Finally, we will look at very specific challenges leaders and managers face when their organization moves to Agile.

There is NO doubt Agile values can be used by managers and leaders, the challenge is Agile values puts managers and leaders in the difficult and awkward position of having to redefine themselves and their place in the business world. If they can cross this “chasm” the business opportunity on the other side based on today’s business environment is significant.
