PASADENA Virtual | Keeping in Touch with NASA’s Deep Space Network

Keeping in Touch with NASA's Deep Space Network (DSN)

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory manages the Deep Space Network for NASA. The DSN provides tracking, telemetry, and command services to both US and international spacecraft beyond earth's orbit. Three complexes in Goldstone CA, Madrid Spain, and Canberra Australia track over 30 spacecraft 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. This talk will show how the DSN accomplishes its mission and some of the current spacecraft being tracked.

Robert-Navarro.jpgRobert Navarro has been with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for more than 28 years. While at JPL, he has worked on many projects for the Deep Space Network in the areas of digital signal processing and engineering management. He is currently the manager of the Tracking, Telemetry, and Command, End-to-End Data Office for the Deep Space Network Project.  His career started with Hewlett Packard working on circuit design and image processing for inkjet printers. Robert received a B.S. in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College in 1986 and an M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California in 1987.
