Cancellation Policy

Q:  What is the cancellation policy on Culver City Dinner Meetings?

A:  Dinner Meetings can be cancelled up until the Tuesday before the event with a $2 and a 3% cancellation fee.  You can also allow a friend or colleague to attend in your place.  Because we owe the venue a guaranteed number by that Tuesday, any last minute cancellations are non-refundable.  Should there be extenuating circumstances, please contact the board at BoD@pmi-la.org  with the request and reason for cancellation.

Q:  What is the cancellation policy on Seminars?

A:  Seminars have a minimum attendance and can be cancelled up until the Tuesday before the Saturday event with a $5 fee + 3% for a ½ day Seminar and a $10 +3% fee for a whole day seminar.  You can also allow a friend or colleague to attend in your place.  Because we owe the venue a guaranteed number by that Tuesday, any last minute cancellations are non-refundable.  Should there be extenuating circumstances, please contact the board at BoD@pmi-la.orgwith the request and reason for cancellation.  We could possibly refund a portion of your fees, less the amounts already paid to the venue on your behalf.

Q:  What is the cancellation policy on PMP Prep Classes?

A: PMP Prep classes have a minimum attendance and can be cancelled up until 21 days before the start of the 1st day of the class with a $75 + 3% cancellation fee. Because we owe the venue a guaranteed number and purchase course materials for the class, any cancellation after this date is non-refundable. You can also allow a friend or colleague to attend in your place. Should there be extenuating circumstances, please contact the Board of Directors at bod@pmi-la.org with the request and reason for cancellation. In rare cases, we have allowed a student to attend the next series of classes for the already paid amount.

Q: What is the Chapter contact information?

A: We do not have a physical address as we are a volunteer organization. But there are various ways to contact us.

Q:  How is the Chapter run?

A:  We report to our parent organization, PMI.org. But we have our own Chapter structure. more information can be found in the About menu. 

 

Q:  I want to serve on the board, how can I do this?

A:  Contact the nominations@pmi-la.org team and let them know what type of position interests you. Nominations are gathered in the summer, there is a mandatory new candidate orientation meeting for those who qualify to run, held in August time frame.  Annual elections take place in September to October thru PMI's VoteNet process.  New board is announced in October.

Job Postings

Q:  How do I post a job that I have available?

A: Send an email to jobs@pmi-la.org with a word document describing the position, hiring dates, when to remove the posting, along with the logo og the hiring company.  There will be enough information about the position on the web, but a member would have to login to see the details.

 

Q:  How do I look for a job that may be posted?

A: Job postings will only be visible to PMI-LA Chapter members - please remember to login to view them. They can be found in the last tab across the top of the screen (Jobs!). 

Project Management Classes

Q:  Do you offer project management classes?

A:  PMI-LA offers seminars (1/2 and whole day) on various Project Management topics as well as offering program meetings to discuss PM topics.  They are all posted on our website as they are put together for our members.

If you are looking for a basic “Introduction to Project Management” type of class and want more formal training, there are a lot of local and online schools​​​​​​​ offering classes. They are low cost and do not have to be taken in conjunction with a degree.

CAPM

Q: Should I take the CAPM instead of the PMP exam?

A: The CAPM requires 23 hours of training, and passing of a test. It is an excellent stepping stone into the world of project management when you do not have the experience hours. or if you do not quite have enough experience hours.  After passing the CAPM you have 5 years to convert it to a PMP without having to retake all the contact hours.

A: You can download a free digital copy from PMI if you are a PMI member by following these steps:

Q: How do I find information about PMP Certification and guidance for the Application and Exams?

A: PMI has all the details about PMP on their website:

Password

Q: I forgot my password and the reset is not working. What should I do?

A: Your default credentials are the same as your PMI.org credentials.  If you change these and forget them, you need to go to PMI to get the password reset.   You can override this information with your email address and a different password locally.  . If you are a current PMI-LA Chapter member and have any issues logging in to our website, contact our Webmaster at webmaster@pmi-la.org.

Q: What is my PMI-LA login?

A: We went live with a new website on July 1, 2019. Please note the following changes:

Username = your PMI.org login information
Password = your PMI.org password

Q: What if I want to change my username or password?

A: Once you login, go to the 'My Information tab'. You can change your password here and your login becomes your email account that you have on file with PMI.  

Click on the Modify button at the bottom save it.  Please note that this only changes your local login credentials, not yotu PMI.org ones.

Q: My login is not working. What should I do?

A: If you are a current PMI-LA Chapter member and have any issues logging in to our website, contact our Webmaster at webmaster@pmi-la.org.

Please note: If your membership has lapsed or recently expired, you will be deactivated in our system. Once you renew your membership and we receive the update from PMI, you will be activated again within 3 days of your registration or renewal

How do I add an event to my calendar?

Q:  How do I add an event to my calendar? 

A: Follow the instruction guide for adding a chapter event to the PMI-LA ‘My calendar’ and to your own personal Outlook calendar. The steps are outlined below.

Locate the desired event on the calendar. i.e., Pasadena Virtual | Peak Performance for PMs.

Click on the iCal icon on the top right corner of the popped-up window as shown below:

It causes the file explorer window to pop up. Save the ‘PMI-event’ file name as an ‘iCalendar File’ in the desired location within your filesystem as shown below:

Open up the ‘pmi-event’ file name from where it was saved. You will get what is shown below. Once you save it – it will show up on your Outlook. Set a reminder as you wish.
