Social Media Contest: "What's Your Pandemic Project?" 

To encourage everyone to stay connected,  the PMI-LA Pandemic Committee has proposed a challenge to all Project Managers out there!  Take a picture of something that you have accomplished during the pandemic and post them to your Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn page with the hashtag #pmilapandemic. The top entries each week will win a $10 gift card from Amazon!

Some general rules:

Posts will be gathered and posted here.  Winners will be notified via email.  Some sample ideas of  Pandemic Projects: New Home Office Project, Distance Learning Projects, New Hobbies, New Credentials, Home improvement Projects, Re-organize your house, Learn to cook something new ....anything you would like to share with your fellow Chapter Members!

Announcement Regarding COVID-19

Dear PMI-LA Members,

PMI-LA will continue to monitor the COVID-19 breakouts by region and stay up-to-date on the re-opening of Los Angeles.   We are offering a special discount of $5 for members to attend virtual meetings during this time. Visit our front page calendar for all available on-line offerings; Stay healthy and safe and we hope to see you after this Global Crisis is over.

I encourage each of you to post your "Pandemic Project" activities to Social Media and join in sharing what other Project Managers are doing while our city is once again locking down.

General Questions & Concerns:

Q:  I am scheduled to take the PMP exam, how will I be affected?  Please visit the Pearson Vue Centers Coronavirus Update Page to see if your exam has been changed.  UPDATE from their website:  

Due to increasing concern for the health and safety of our candidates and our employees and in response to government guidance and difficulty procuring the critical hygienic products that keep our test centers safe, we are temporarily closing our U.S.-based Pearson VUE-owned and operated Pearson Professional Centers (PPCs) starting Tuesday, March 17.

Candidates can reschedule their exams for appointments starting April 16 and beyond if conditions allow.

There is an option to take the exam on-line at home.  There are strict restrictions on hardware and access and it must be a quiet environment, or the test will end.  If you think this is for you, here is the  information:

Q1:  WIll PMI delay the change of the PMP Exam due to this global crisis?  PMI has delayed the PMP exam change to 12/31/2020.  All candidates exam eligibility periods will also be extended until January 18, 2021.  Click here for the latest COVID-19 information from PMI.

Q2:  I need to re-certify soon, will PMI relax their recertification policies?  At this time we do not have any information from PMI about this.  Please email customercare@pmi.org for more information.  There are virtual options available thru the chapter as well as thru a number of Registered Education Providers to help you get re-certified through this crisis.

Q3:  I am a displaced worker due to the pandemic.  Does PMI offer any considerations on dues?  PMI offers hardship assistance for up to 2 years.  Click here for additional information: Hardship-Case.pdf.  The PMI-LA chapter is offering all on-line meetings at a discount for members ($5 per virtual meeting) during this time of crisis.

Q4:  When will the logo launch occur?  We will have a soft launch (website) of the logo sometime in April  We will bring new logo items to the In-Person meetings once they resume.

Q5  Will In-Person meetings resume?  The PMI-LA Board is closely monitoring the situation around the Los Angeles area.   Please keep monitoring this website for the most up-to-date information.  Current best estimate is Jan 2021.
